Supporting Job Search Activities for Former USFK Personnel
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 17th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation for 'Supporting Employment of Former USFK Personnel and Enhancing Korea-U.S. Cooperation'. This agreement was promoted with the intention of supporting job connections between Korean companies that have entered the U.S. and former USFK personnel through an online recruitment platform, and contributing to practical cooperation and exchange between Korea and the U.S. based on this.
The signing ceremony held at the KCCI Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by Park Il-jun, Vice Chairman of KCCI, Lim Ho-young, Chairman of the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation, and Robert Abrams, Chairman of the USFK Veterans Association (former 16th Commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command).
The 'USFK Veterans Employment Platform' being built by KCCI allows Korean companies that have entered the U.S. to register job postings, and for personnel who have completed or are about to complete their USFK service to submit resumes and apply directly. This aims to provide high-quality civilian job opportunities to former personnel and connect Korean companies with responsible and adaptable talent. The USFK recruitment support platform will officially open in October. Vice Chairman Park Il-jun said, "Over the past decade, many Korean companies have actively invested in the U.S., establishing local production bases, and the high-paying quality jobs they offer have greatly increased," adding, "This project will be a win-win for both sides as former USFK personnel can obtain excellent jobs and Korean companies can hire diligent talent with an understanding of Korean culture." Lim Ho-young, Chairman of the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation, said, "Considering that about 28,500 USFK personnel are serving in Korea, this MOU is expected to boost the morale of the personnel and provide substantial rewards for serving in Korea," adding, "This agreement will make USFK personnel more inclined to serve in Korea, and furthermore, the Korea-U.S. alliance will become even stronger."
