Special Prosecutor likely to focus on 'bribery allegations'
[Financial News] Han Hak-ja, the president of the Unification Church, who had refused three summons notifications from the special prosecutor team for Kim Geon-hee (Min Jung-gi special prosecutor), voluntarily appeared.
President Han appeared to attend the special prosecutor team's office located at KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 17th.
President Han entered without answering the reporters' questions such as 'Did you deliver 100 million won to Kwon Seong-dong, a member of the People's Power?', 'Did you try to cover up overseas gambling investigations through Representative Kwon?'.
The special prosecutor team planned to investigate President Han as a suspect by applying charges such as brokerage under the Special Act and violation of the Political Funds Act. However, as President Han refused the summons investigation on the 8th, 11th, and 15th due to health reasons, the special prosecutor team was considering compulsory measures such as requesting an arrest warrant. President Han's side seems to be cooperating with the investigation by lowering their stance as the special prosecutor team brought up the 'review of arrest warrant'.
The special prosecutor team is expected to investigate President Han regarding 'bribery allegations'. △The reason and circumstances for handing over 100 million won of illegal political funds to Representative Kwon △The background of requesting various Unification Church issues △Whether they received information related to overseas gambling investigation from Representative Kwon and destroyed evidence △The truth and whether they had members join en masse to ensure Representative Kwon's election as party leader will be confirmed.
