Prevention of Abduction and Luring of Minors, Concentrated Deployment of Police Officers for Safe School Routes
【Financial News Daegu=Kim Jang-wook Reporter】"No issues in securing children's safety on school routes!"
Daegu Police Agency announced that on the afternoon of the 15th, a joint safety inspection was conducted on school routes near Seongdong Elementary School (located in Hwanggeum-dong, Suseong-gu) with about 40 participants including police officers and school officials.
This safety inspection was conducted to comprehensively check and improve vulnerabilities around schools and to intensively promote measures to secure children's safety on school routes, following a series of recent incidents involving attempts to abduct or lure minors around schools nationwide.
Lee Seung-hyeop, Commissioner, emphasized, "We plan to concentrate police capabilities to secure children's safety on school routes and actively cooperate with schools, education offices, and the local community to create safe school routes and continue multifaceted efforts to protect children."
According to related measures, the Crime Prevention Diagnosis Team (CPO) of the police station will precisely diagnose crime vulnerabilities around school routes and promote facility improvements, and strengthen video patrols around schools through cooperation with local governments and CCTV control centers.
Efforts are being made to alleviate public anxiety through visible police activities.
Additionally, until October 2nd, during school commuting hours, maximum police forces including local police, mobile patrol units, and police mobile units, as well as school police officers (SPO) and traffic police officers, are being mobilized to focus on preventive patrols near major school routes.
Furthermore, if suspicious individuals are found loitering around children or carrying dangerous objects, active questioning will be conducted to check for any abnormalities.
Through collaboration with child protection personnel such as child safety keepers and voluntary crime prevention teams, protection activities around school routes will be strengthened, and school police officers (SPO) will conduct crime prevention promotion activities and provide guidance on 'abduction and kidnapping prevention rules', 'child safety keeper houses' around school routes, and the 'pre-registration system for missing prevention' through cooperation with each school and education office.
