Discussion on revitalizing commercial districts and nurturing young talents
[Financial News] The Small Business Market Promotion Corporation announced on the 15th that it held the 'Sojin Gong × Regional University RISE Consultative Body' inauguration ceremony at its Daejeon headquarters on the 12th, formalizing the establishment of a cooperative system with 24 universities.
This event is a follow-up to the 'RISE System Linked Business Agreement' signed with the Korea Research Foundation last July. Sojin Gong and the universities discussed cooperation plans for regional community innovation and development, such as revitalizing local commercial districts, mutual development of small businesses, and nurturing young talents.
RISE (Regional Innovation-centered University Support System) is a system that delegates university support authority to local governments to promote the joint growth of regions and universities. The Korea Research Foundation supports nationwide RISE centers as the Central RISE Center.
Sojin Gong signed a business agreement with 24 university RISE project teams at the event. It plans to operate regular working-level meetings and expand joint support and discovery of excellent local small businesses.
About 70 employees of Sojin Gong and university officials nationwide attended the event. Kim Bong-moon, head of the Central RISE Center of the Korea Research Foundation, introduced a regional university collaboration model, and Chung-Ang University and Daegu Catholic University presented collaboration projects with the corporation. In a discussion involving six participants, including professors from Hanbat National University, Chung-Ang University, Woosong University, and Busan University of Foreign Studies, as well as industry experts, the direction for promoting 29 unit projects such as revitalizing local commercial districts, supporting small business start-ups and employment, and expanding sales channels was discussed.
Sojin Gong plans to operate regular working-level meetings by region and hold a performance-sharing workshop in the first half of next year as part of the launch of this consultative body.
Park Seong-hyo, Chairman of Sojin Gong, said, "The cooperation between the corporation and regional universities will play a significant role in solving the regional extinction problem," adding, "We will contribute to revitalizing the regional economy through small business innovation and youth job creation."
