[Financial News] The Korea Economic Association Entrepreneurship Development Center (Gibalso) recently announced on the 15th that it has started the 'Gibalhan Elementary CEO Classroom' program, which teaches economics and entrepreneurship to 20 elementary schools nationwide. Hangeonghyeop Gibalso, under the recognition that entrepreneurship is necessary for everyone, has conducted various programs to spread entrepreneurship, such as the Gibalhan 2030 Teacher Training and Visionpreneur University Student Camp this year. The goal is to expand this to elementary students, allowing them to learn and experience entrepreneurship from a young age, growing into creative and proactive talents.
The Gibalhan Elementary CEO Classroom program is designed to allow lower-grade elementary students to acquire basic economic principles, creative problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurship. It is a tailored education that allows children to learn the basics of economics and management easily and interestingly. From September this year to February next year, experiential classes using teaching materials and tools will be conducted at 20 elementary schools nationwide. It consists of a total of 8 units and 16 sessions, where they learn the roles of households, businesses, and the government, and experience planning, producing, and promoting products as entrepreneurs.
At the school, more than 60 mentors organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Center participate to support the classes. Mentors take charge of the classes, providing explanations and consultations tailored to the students' level. For this, the 'Gibalhan Elementary CEO Classroom 1st Mentor Group Pre-Education' was conducted on August 20th. The mentor group learned from expert lectures about how to communicate with elementary students on-site and what to pay attention to during class.
In the first Gibalhan Classroom class held at Seoul Tapsan Elementary School, students learned about the jobs and tasks of family or neighbors, the difference between needs and wants, and the concept of earning money through jobs to purchase necessities for living.
Jeong Cheol, head of the Hangeonghyeop Entrepreneurship Development Center, said, “Through this program, future generations will positively accept the meanings of cooperation, challenge, and achievement from elementary school, and develop the power to think and decide for themselves,” adding, “Although this semester started with 20, we plan to expand operations in the future by analyzing the learning outcomes and satisfaction of participating students.”
