[Financial News] Doosan Enerbility announced on the 11th that its Czech subsidiary, Doosan Skoda Power, has signed a contract with Czech Power Company (CEZ) for the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 and 2 Generator Replacement Project. The contract is worth a total of 300 billion won.
CEZ is the largest energy company in the Czech Republic and one of the top 10 in Europe. It has over 3.5 million customers and more than 33,000 employees.
On the 10th (local time), the contract signing ceremony held at the CEZ headquarters in Prague, Czech Republic, was attended by CEZ CEO Daniel Benes, Doosan Enerbility Son Seungwoo, Head of Power Services BG, Doosan Skoda Power Lim Younggi, Head of Corporation, and other company officials.
This contract includes the supply and replacement of generators and auxiliary equipment (BOP, Balance of Plant) and 15-year long-term maintenance after completion. Doosan Skoda Power will oversee the project as the main contractor, while Doosan Enerbility will supply generator equipment and provide technical support.
The Temelin Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 and 2 (each with a capacity of 1,125MW) is a commercial nuclear power plant located in South Bohemia, Czech Republic, operated by CEZ. CEZ is gradually pursuing a modernization project for the nuclear power plant to ensure long-term operation for at least 60 years.
Son Seungwoo, Head of Doosan Enerbility BG, said, "This contract is the first achievement since we announced the plan to transfer generator production technology to Doosan Skoda Power last year. We are pleased to contribute to the Czech energy industry," and added, "Based on the nuclear power business competitiveness of 'Team Doosan' confirmed in international competitive bidding, we will expand opportunities in the global market, including Europe."
Last year, Doosan Enerbility announced investments and technology transfer plans to support Doosan Skoda Power in securing its own generator production capabilities. In February, Doosan Skoda Power became the first generator equipment company to be listed on the Prague Stock Exchange.
