According to Samsung Display on the 11th, Lee Joo-hyung, Head of the Small and Medium Business Division (Vice President), said at the 'IAA Mobility 2025' conference in Munich, Germany on the 10th (local time), "Samsung OLED can provide exciting joy to consumers who want something new and special."
He added, "In particular, OLED will create various values as a core infrastructure of future mobility by recognizing surrounding objects through integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) or providing safe driving solutions through deep learning."
The IAA 2025, held until the 14th, is one of the world's top three motor shows, with major companies in the mobility field exhibiting, and leaders from various fields such as politics, business, research and development, and startups attending. The motor show hosts conferences to share insights on the future and development challenges of mobility.
At the conference held on the main stage of the IAA on that day, themed 'Rapid Innovation: Evolution to Meet Market Demands', attendees included Vice President Lee, Amy McLaughlin, President of the Advanced Materials & Transportation Products Platform at 3M, and Jeffrey Buco, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at Audi AG.
Vice President Lee emphasized, "In the evolution to Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), displays are emerging as the interface connecting cars and people, and as a digital platform within autonomous vehicles. Concepts like slidable, bendable, and rollable are now becoming a reality."
He continued, "Through technologies like 'Flex Magic Pixel' (FMP) that control viewing angles or under-panel camera (UPC) technology that eliminates holes by embedding cameras in displays, vehicle interiors can be aesthetically improved and combined with AI functions to eliminate various elements that hinder safe driving. The high-quality image of OLED, which differentiates itself from Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) with perfect black expression and contrast ratio, also enhances the luxury feel of vehicles."
Samsung Display is emphasizing its intention to foster new growth drivers by recently launching the 'Drive' brand for vehicle OLEDs. Samsung OLED can effectively support customer innovation by responding to demands for △design differentiation △robust reliability △intelligent safety technology △high-quality image △expandable displays, according to Samsung Display. According to market research firm Omdia, the market size for vehicle OLEDs is expected to grow from about $880 million (about 1.2 trillion won) last year to $4.86 billion (about 6.7 trillion won) by 2030. Samsung Display recorded a 55.9% market share in the vehicle OLED market last year.
Meanwhile, at this IAA exhibition, Samsung Display proposed a 'multi-lamination' solution that combines two or more displays to implement a large screen. The concept is that you can choose and combine various sizes of displays provided by Samsung Display to suit your taste, just like shopping at a mart.
