[Financial News] The Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team (Lee Myung-hyun Special Prosecutor) will summon Lee Jong-seop, former Minister of National Defense, as a reference on the morning of the 17th.
Lee's lawyer stated on the 10th, "We received a request for attendance as a reference on September 17th at 10 AM via mobile phone from the special prosecutor, and accepted it through a lawyer."
He continued, "We hoped for the official delivery of the attendance request and a video recording investigation to ensure a fair and transparent investigation."
The special prosecutor team is expected to question the former minister about various instructions related to the Chae Sang-byeong case and the reality of the 'VIP Fury Theory.' Additionally, they are expected to inquire about allegations that the former minister, who was a suspect in the abuse of authority related to the Chae Sang-byeong case, was appointed as the ambassador to Australia and fled the country.
The former minister is mentioned as a key link connecting the investigation pressure allegations and the 'VIP Fury Theory' to former President Yoon Seok-yeol. It was revealed that the former minister, who was the Minister of National Defense at the time of Chae Sang-byeong's death in July 2023, reversed the initial investigation approval of the Marine Corps investigation team immediately after speaking with former President Yoon, making him a major figure in the investigation pressure allegations.
Meanwhile, the special prosecutor team is investigating Shin Beom-cheol, the former Vice Minister of National Defense, as a suspect on this day.
