[Financial News] A passenger who missed an international flight after the boarding deadline publicly criticized the airline, only to face backlash from online public opinion.
The video posted by the passenger received thousands of comments, with many pointing out that it was "an individual's problem for not following the rules," leading to a wave of criticism.
According to the Hankook Ilbo on the 9th, a female passenger, Ms. A, posted a video on her SNS on the 6th expressing her dissatisfaction, saying, "The boarding closes 10 minutes before departure, but they absolutely refused to let me on even though I was only 5 minutes late." At that time, she had reached the gate, but since the door was not closed, she protested, "Why won't they let me on when the plane hasn't even departed?" The video clearly showed the 'Boarding Closed' sign on the flight to Kobe, Japan.
However, the reaction to the video was unexpectedly cold. Many netizens criticized Ms. A's attitude, saying, "International flights require adherence to regulations," and "It's unreasonable to blame the airline when she was late." There were also sarcastic comments like "Does having a different seat class mean you can be late?"
The regulations of the national airline state that international boarding starts 35 minutes before departure and closes 10 minutes before departure. Furthermore, if you do not board after completing check-in, it is treated as a 'no-show' and a penalty fee may be charged. Contrary to Ms. A's claim, the airline staff repeatedly announced the boarding closure time through the video, adhering to the principles.
