Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, Committed to Stable Exam Operation and Supporting Student Convenience
【Financial News Muan=Hwang Taejong Reporter】Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced that the total number of applicants for the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test is 14,952, an increase of 7.3% (1,011 people) compared to last year.
The number of current students is 12,165, an increase of 973 from last year, and the number of graduates and others is 2,787, an increase of 38.
Previously, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education received applications from August 21 to September 5 at high schools and seven district education support offices (Mokpo, Yeosu, Suncheon, Naju, Gwangyang, Damyang, Haenam) in the province.
The composition of applicants is 12,165 current students (81.4%), 2,325 graduates (15.5%), and 462 from qualification exams (3.1%), with 7,398 male students (49.5%) and 7,554 female students (50.5%). Compared to last year, the number of male students increased by 508 and female students by 503.
By subject area, 14,747 (98.6%) chose the Korean language area, 13,747 (91.9%) the mathematics area, 14,481 (96.8%) the English area, 14,952 (100%) the mandatory Korean history area, 14,228 (95.2%) the inquiry area, and 1,570 (10.5%) the second foreign language/Chinese characters area.
Jeon Seong-a, Director of Career Education at Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, said, "We will do our best to support stable exam operation and student convenience in line with the increase in applicants," adding, "Schools should also carefully manage so that all third-year high school students can reap the rewards of their efforts in the remaining time."
