[Financial News] A fire suspected to be arson occurred in an apartment in Nowon-gu, Seoul, resulting in one death. The deceased is presumed to be the prime suspect, according to the police.
According to Nowon Police Station and Fire Station, the fire broke out on the 5th floor of a 15-story apartment in Gongneung-dong, Nowon-gu, at around 0:04 AM on the 7th and was extinguished by 1:01 AM, about an hour later.
The fire led to the evacuation of over 80 residents, and one body was found inside the house.
The police suspect that a male resident in his 60s, Mr. A, is the deceased. The body was severely damaged, and the National Forensic Service (NFS) has been requested to conduct an identity verification test.
The police received a report just before the fire that a woman in her 50s, known to be an acquaintance of Mr. A, was stabbed with a weapon near the apartment. The victim was injured in the neck and was transferred to a nearby hospital, but her life is not in danger.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, considering the possibility that Mr. A committed attempted murder and then set the apartment on fire.
