[Financial News] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, and Ahn Cheol-soo, member of the People Power Party, have drawn attention to the possibility of a political alliance as they continue to meet at events, including a recent debate and a marathon event.
According to the political circle on the 7th, Lee and Ahn attended the '17th Cyber Territory Defense Marathon' sponsored by the Constitutional Association, held at Mulbit Stage in Yeouido Hangang Park, Seoul, on the morning of that day. They greeted each other with a handshake before the start of the 5km course. However, it is reported that they were not aware of each other's attendance in advance.
Previously, on the 3rd, they also met by chance at a debate held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building. Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who has emphasized cooperation between the Reform New Party and the People Power Party, was also present.
On the 5th, Lee appeared on BBS Radio and mentioned the possibility of forming an alliance with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon in the local elections next June, saying, "There is a lot of political and personal exchange, and we are almost like one team."
He also mentioned the possibility of an alliance with the pro-impeachment faction (supporters of former President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment) within the People Power Party, including Ahn, saying, "There are many things we can try with Ahn."
