[Financial News] More than 1 in 10 employees think they are not safe from sexual crimes in the workplace.
Jikjang Gapjil 119 commissioned a survey from the polling agency Global Research, which surveyed 1,000 employees nationwide aged 19 and over from July 1 to 7, and revealed these results on the 7th.
12.8% of respondents said that their current or most recent workplace is not safe from sexual crimes. This rate was higher among women (16.3%) than men (9.7%), and higher among non-regular workers (15.8%) than regular workers (10.8%).
19.1% of respondents said that sexual crime prevention activities are not being properly conducted in the workplace, and 17.4% said they are not aware of the contents of regulations related to sexual crimes.
15.7% of respondents said it is difficult to freely report workplace sexual crime to the reporting agency, and 18.0% were concerned that workplace sexual crime would not decrease even after reporting.
The reasons why workplace sexual crime victims give up reporting or distrust the effectiveness of reporting include 'It seems that the victim will not be protected after reporting' (18.4%), 'It seems that there will be disadvantages from reporting' (19.3%), and 'It seems that normal life will be difficult after reporting' (23.1%).
There were also responses such as 'It seems that there will be retaliation from the perpetrator' (20.7%), 'It seems that appropriate punishment will not be carried out' (21.3%), and 'It seems that the identity of the reporter will be exposed' (25.9%).
