SKY Minimum Acceptance Score: Humanities 259 Points, Natural Sciences 266 Points
[Financial News] Based on the preliminary scoring results of the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test September mock exam, the minimum acceptance score for universities in Seoul, based on a perfect score of 300 points in the Korean, Mathematics, and Inquiry sections, is predicted to be 216 points for the humanities and 212 points for the natural sciences, according to an analysis by Jongro Academy on the 7th. Additionally, the minimum acceptance score for Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University (SKY) is expected to be 259 points for the humanities and 266 points for the natural sciences.
Im Seong-ho, the head of Jongro Academy, said, "Although the number of applicants for medical schools is expected to decrease overall due to a reduction in recruitment quotas compared to last year, the number of third-year high school students in the 2026 academic year is expected to increase, leading to an overall increase in applicants." He also added, "Last year's average competition rate for early admissions was 18.74 to 1 in the Seoul area, 12.99 to 1 in the Gyeongin area, and 5.99 to 1 in the local area," and "the concentration phenomenon in the Seoul area is expected to continue in the 2026 academic year."
He further advised, "Before the early admission application period from the 8th to the 12th, it is necessary to finally confirm the universities that can be applied for regular admission, and to finally check the status of meeting the minimum requirements for the College Scholastic Ability Test to make the final decision on upward, appropriate, and stable support in the six early admission applications."
According to this preliminary scoring analysis, the predicted acceptance scores for major universities are as follows. In the humanities, Seoul National University's College of Business Administration is expected to have the highest score at 282 points, while Yonsei University's Business Administration and Korea University's College of Business Administration are predicted to be 260 points. In the natural sciences, Seoul National University's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is expected to have the highest score at 279 points, while Yonsei University's System Semiconductor Engineering and Korea University's Semiconductor Engineering are both predicted to be 269 points.
In the medical field, Seoul National University's College of Medicine is expected to have the highest score at 292 points, and the acceptance scores for medical schools nationwide are expected to range from 292 to 276 points. The dental schools are predicted to range from 283 to 272 points, the oriental medicine schools from 276 to 269 points, and the pharmacy schools from 279 to 266 points.
In the 2026 academic year, the number of third-year high school students is expected to increase by 47,000 compared to last year, which may lead to an increase in the number of top students in internal assessments, acting as a factor for rising acceptance scores. Additionally, although the recruitment quota for medical schools has been reduced, the regional talent selection ratio for local medical schools is higher than in the 2024 academic year before the expansion, so top students in local internal assessments are expected to focus on applying to medical schools.
The early admission application period is from the 8th to the 12th, and examinees should strategically utilize the six application opportunities by checking the universities that can be applied for regular admission and whether the minimum requirements for the College Scholastic Ability Test are met before applying.
