【Berlin(Germany)=Im Su-bin Reporter】Park Chan-woo, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' B2B Integrated Offering Center, said on the 8th, "We will fully commercialize the 'Smart Modular Home' solution that combines AI home technology with modular architecture starting from IFA 2025 this year," and "We are actively cooperating with domestic and foreign construction companies to expand the base of modular homes evolved into AI homes." He further emphasized, "We will make Samsung Electronics' AI home not a future but a daily life through the 'Smart Modular Home', the next-generation residential environment, in various parts of the world."
Samsung Electronics introduced the 'Smart Modular Home Solution' based on AI home technology applicable to modular architecture, which is attracting attention as the next-generation residential model at IFA 2025, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition held in Berlin, Germany until the 9th. At this time, modular architecture refers to a method of assembling modules such as rooms, kitchens, and living rooms, which are pre-manufactured in factories, at the site instead of stacking bricks one by one on-site.
Samsung Electronics attracted attention by creating an experience center for the smart modular home solution in a modular building with a general house form of 218㎡ (66 pyeong) at 'Messe Berlin'. According to the purpose of each space such as entrance, living room, and room, they applied six concepts of smart modular home solutions: △Security △Internet of Things (IoT) △Entertainment △Net Zero Energy △Sleep △SmartThings Pro, allowing visitors to experience them directly.
The smart modular home experience center exhibited this time took about a week to manufacture in modules at a domestic factory, and about three months for shipment and transportation from Korea to Germany. However, the on-site installation was completed in just one day. It is explained that the biggest advantage of modular architecture is the overwhelmingly fast construction speed, as the modules manufactured in the factory are moved and assembled, unlike traditional construction.

Samsung Electronics' smart modular home is a case where Samsung C&T's building is combined with Samsung Electronics' AI home solution. The strength is that it can realize the optimized 'AI Home' dreamed by Samsung as it combines modular housing and AI-based smart home through 'collaboration' among Samsung affiliates. When visitors enter each space on-site, the lights and air conditioners automatically operate, or when 'game mode' is executed, the curtains and air conditioners respond simultaneously, allowing them to see how AI perfectly controls the entire house according to lifestyle patterns. In addition, a home heat pump optimized for modular architecture provides high-efficiency heating and cooling, and you can meet a solution that provides a safe and comfortable sleep environment in the bedroom. It not only creates an environment optimized for sleep through lighting and air conditioning devices but also allows you to check the security status of the house so you can sleep with peace of mind.
In the storage space where various equipment is stored, you can find built-in solar panels, solar batteries (ESS), and ventilation devices (ERV). Through these devices, you can implement a 'Net Zero Home' that automatically ventilates according to indoor air quality or minimizes energy consumption.
It is also evaluated as attractive in terms of price. A Samsung Electronics official explained, "When building a modular house of the same size as the cost of building a 30-pyeong single-family house in Seoul, the cost can be reduced to one-third," and "Including AI appliances and solutions, it can be supplied at less than half the cost." In addition, Samsung C&T is automating a significant portion of the modular house production process to increase productivity, and it is expected that it will be possible to supply it in the form desired by users as it has a structure that can be expanded horizontally and vertically by connecting or stacking a single module.
