[Financial News] The Korea Economic Association announced that it held the Korea-Italy Business Forum in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Korea and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) at the Lotte Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 5th. This forum was prepared to promote economic cooperation and expand corporate exchanges between the two countries. Valentino Valentini, Deputy Minister of Enterprises and Manufacturing of Italy, Park Jong-won, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea, Emilia Gatto, Italian Ambassador to Korea, and other key figures and businesspeople representing the governments and economic sectors of both countries attended.
At the opening ceremony, Jeong Cheol, President of the Korea Economic Research Institute, emphasized, "Although the two countries hold an important position in the global economy as one of the world's top 10 trading nations, the scale of trade and industrial scope remains limited to certain areas," and added, "Now, we should expand cooperation into future-oriented fields such as low-carbon energy infrastructure and healthcare."
He further added, "Korea, as a strong nation in nuclear power plant construction, can be an optimal partner for Italy in the process of reintroducing nuclear power. Both countries, facing the common challenge of aging populations, possess limitless potential for cooperation in the healthcare sector."
This forum continued with a special panel discussion on the theme of 'Korea-Italy Economic Cooperation and Prospects' and covered four areas: advanced industries, circular economy, infrastructure, and healthcare. In the afternoon, through a business-to-business (B2B) consultation meeting, companies from both countries discussed specific cooperation plans and explored the possibility of pursuing substantial partnerships, including the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
