[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said on the 4th, "I hope that measures will be quickly prepared to ensure a strong response, including punitive fines, against companies that repeatedly experience security incidents."
President Lee presided over the Chief Secretary Meeting at the Yongsan Presidential Office and said, "I hope the relevant authorities will actively consider conducting a proactive investigation to see if there are any hidden additional damages, and also work on improving the system to enhance companies' security capabilities."
President Lee explained, "Recently, hacking incidents have been occurring one after another at telecommunications and financial companies, making the public very anxious."
In addition, President Lee pointed out, "The problem is that despite the frequent occurrence of such incidents, the response and preparedness measures are very inadequate," and "Some companies are said to have been hacked repeatedly in the same way."
President Lee added, "We need to reconsider whether the mistaken perception of considering security investments for personal information protection as unnecessary costs is the background of such situations."
