[Financial News] Hyundai and Kia announced on the 4th that they recorded a total sales volume of nearly 180,000 units in the U.S. market last August, marking the highest monthly sales volume ever for the two companies combined.
Despite the U.S. maintaining auto tariffs at 25%, all major automakers in the U.S., including Hyundai·Kia, did not raise prices, and with the upcoming abolition of electric vehicle subsidies at the end of September, U.S. consumers' purchases of eco-friendly cars increased, leading to increased sales for Hyundai·Kia.
The Hyundai Motor Group announced that Hyundai·Kia's August U.S. sales were 179,455 units, a 10.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Hyundai sold 96,448 units, an 11.3% increase over the same period, while Kia sold 83,007 units, a 10.4% increase.
With continued sales expansion centered on RV (recreational vehicles) and eco-friendly car models, sales continued to increase in August.
For Hyundai, the Palisade sold 15,560 units and the Ioniq 5 sold 7,773 units, leading growth with increases of 38.8% and 60.7% respectively compared to the previous year.
Genesis sold 7,925 units, a 7.3% increase in sales compared to the same period. The GV70 sold 3,459 units and the GV80 sold 2,630 units, showing strong sales with increases of 8.7% and 12.2% respectively in SUV models.
At Kia, the Sportage sold 18,023 units and the EV9 sold 2,679 units, each increasing by 19.2% and 12.2%, recording the highest sales ever.
The new K4 sold 12,091 units, achieving sales of over 10,000 units for eight consecutive months this year.
Hyundai·Kia's eco-friendly car sales were 49,996 units, a 51.8% surge compared to the same month last year. The share of sales within the U.S. also reached the highest ever at 27.9% of total sales.
By type of eco-friendly car, hybrid (HEV) sales were 33,894 units, a 59.1% increase over the previous year, and electric vehicle sales were 16,102 units, a 38.5% increase over the previous year, both recording the highest monthly sales ever.
