[Financial News] Hanwha Aerospace is establishing a base for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and is set to expand security and economic cooperation.
Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 4th that it held the opening ceremony of the Middle East & North Africa Regional Headquarters (RHQ) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the 3rd (local time).
The opening ceremony was attended by Seong Il, President of Hanwha Aerospace Middle East & Africa Regional Headquarters, along with key executives from Hanwha Defense affiliates, Seok Jong-geon, Commissioner of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Moon Byung-jun, Acting Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Abdulaziz Al Ohali, Governor of Saudi Military Industries Authority, and over 120 government and defense industry officials from both countries.
The newly established RHQ will oversee existing operations in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Egypt.
In particular, RHQ will play a pivotal role in strengthening security and economic partnerships by aligning with Saudi Arabia's 'Vision 2030', contributing to the modernization of the Saudi military and the creation of an industrial ecosystem through localization. With integrated solutions covering land, sea, air, and space from Hanwha Defense's three companies (Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Ocean), RHQ plans to actively target other countries in the region.
Seong Il, President of the Middle East & Africa Regional Headquarters, stated, "The launch of RHQ will be a key bridgehead for Hanwha Group to further strengthen cooperation with countries in the region," adding, "We will establish and implement various localization strategies based on the partnerships we have accumulated so far."
Commissioner Seok stated, "Hanwha Aerospace's Middle East & North Africa Regional Headquarters is an advanced solution forward base for K-defense in the region, including Saudi Arabia," adding, "The government of the Republic of Korea will spare no effort to contribute to strengthening defense capabilities and economic development in the region centered on this forward base."
