[Financial News] The global luxury hotel brand 'Mandarin Oriental' will be established in the northern Seoul Station area complex development project site. This is the first time Mandarin Oriental hotel is being introduced in Korea.
Hanwha Construction announced on the 4th that it selected Mandarin Oriental as the hotel partner for the northern Seoul Station area complex development project and signed an operation contract on the 3rd. Accordingly, 'Mandarin Oriental Seoul', consisting of 128 rooms and suites, is expected to open in 2030.
On the upper floors of the hotel, international dining and Korean and Chinese restaurants will be available, offering a view of Seoul's cityscape while enjoying gourmet meals. The spa and wellness space, spanning four floors, will present unique experiences inspired by traditional Korean culture. Additionally, various facilities such as a swimming pool, fitness center, golf academy, and exclusive outdoor terrace, as well as multipurpose banquet and conference facilities, will be provided to meet global business demands. The interior will be designed by world-renowned architect Andre Fu.
Mandarin Oriental is a global hotel chain operating 44 hotels and 12 residences worldwide, including in Hong Kong, Bangkok, New York, and Paris. It is known that Mandarin Oriental allowed the introduction of its first brand in Korea, recognizing the symbolic and future value of Seoul Station as a geographical and cultural hub.
A representative of Hanwha's northern Seoul Station area development SPC stated, "The northern Seoul Station area complex development is a landmark project that will elevate Seoul's urban competitiveness and brand value, changing the future of Seoul," adding, "This collaboration with 'Mandarin Oriental' will be an opportunity to provide new experiences in the luxury hospitality sector."
Meanwhile, the northern Seoul Station area complex development is an urban innovation project that began construction in December last year, restructuring the structure and function of Seoul's city center. It will be completed as a large-scale complex with MICE facilities, prime offices, hotels, residences, commercial, and cultural spaces, consisting of five buildings with a total floor area of 340,000㎡ on a site of about 30,000㎡ in Bongnae-dong 2-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul.
