Perspective of Samsung Medison Hongcheon Plant Expansion. Dongbu Construction
[Financial News] Dongbu Construction announced on the 3rd that it has won the exclusive contract for the Samsung Medison Hongcheon Plant expansion project commissioned by Samsung Medison.
This project involves the expansion of a total of 5 buildings, including an ultrasound manufacturing building, on a site in Hanseo-ro, Nam-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, with a scale of 2 floors above ground and a total floor area of 14,628㎡. The total construction cost is approximately 38.2 billion KRW, and the construction period is 12 months.
Samsung Medison is a leading company in the global ultrasound diagnostic equipment field, specializing in healthcare and medical devices as part of the Samsung Group. Through this expansion, it aims to increase production capacity and promote process automation.
Recently, Dongbu Construction has been achieving successive contract results in the private plant sector, including logistics centers, research facilities, and factory facilities. The private plant sector is an area of interest for construction companies due to reasons such as diversifying concentrated profit structures, securing stable order sources based on advanced industry demand, and enhancing brand reliability through precise construction and quality management capabilities.
Dongbu Construction is also expanding plants as a new growth axis along with public and private construction and housing projects. Dongbu Construction explained, "Medical device, logistics, and advanced industry facilities require high precision construction, integrated management of equipment and architecture, and thorough safety and quality management capabilities," adding that "we have secured high trust through accumulated experience and technological capabilities."
Going forward, Dongbu Construction plans to continue the growth trend in the private plant sector and expand its business area to high-value-added industrial facilities such as bio and semiconductors. This year, it recorded an order backlog of approximately 10.9 trillion KRW and cumulative order performance of approximately 2.3 trillion KRW in the first half, establishing a portfolio covering public, private, and industrial infrastructure.
