[Financial News]  The court sentenced a woman in her 30s to prison for pouring boiling water and wielding a weapon at her cohabiting partner during a dispute over an affair. The court considered that the victim suffered significant injuries and pain, but also noted that the defendant reported the incident to 119 herself and the victim did not wish for punishment.
On the 2nd, according to the legal community, the Ulsan District Court's 12th Criminal Division sentenced Ms. A to 2 years and 6 months in prison on charges of attempted murder.
In March at night, Ms. A had an argument with her cohabiting partner Mr. B at their home in Ulsan over a past affair issue. After Mr. B went to sleep in his room, Ms. A poured boiling water on his head, neck, and hands, causing second-degree burns.
When Mr. B woke up in shock, Ms. A wielded a weapon, injuring his face and arms, and when Mr. B tried to stop her, she pulled out another weapon hidden in her pants and attacked.
The court pointed out, "Considering the method and tools of the crime, the nature of the crime is severe, and the victim suffered greatly, undergoing multiple surgeries." However, "the court took into account that the defendant requested rescue herself and the victim expressed that he did not wish for punishment," explaining the background for the sentencing.
