President Choi posted a photo with Eric Trump on his social media (SNS) account on the 30th of last month, introducing that he had dinner with him. An SK Networks official said, "Eric Trump attended the 'Bitcoin Asia 2025' conference held in Hong Kong on the 29th of last month as a speaker, and it seems that the two met after this event." Eric Trump, the second son of President Trump and Vice Chairman of the Trump Group, is a co-founder of the cryptocurrency venture 'World Liberty Financial (WLFI)', led by the Trump family, and is focusing on WLFI's global expansion strategy along with his brother Trump Jr.
Choi, a third-generation member of the SK Group, was the only entrepreneur to have an exclusive meeting with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, when he visited Korea in 2023, and had a meeting with Rishi Sunak, former Prime Minister of the UK, last May. An SK Networks official said, "The two are believed to have shared the current status and prospects of global economy and artificial intelligence (AI) industry, as well as Bitcoin and other virtual currency-related businesses, and discussed the possibility of cooperation in the Asian market," adding, "Choi's networking activities are expected to help SK Networks solidify its status as an AI company."
President Choi is expanding investments in AI, robotics, and digital healthcare to transform SK Networks, which was previously focused on trading and consumer goods, into an AI-centric business company.
