[Financial News] Celebrating its 101st anniversary this year, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition IFA 2025 will open on the 5th in Berlin, Germany. The core theme of the exhibition, as in previous years, is Artificial Intelligence (AI). Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and other major domestic companies plan to showcase new AI home appliances that consumers can experience in their daily lives and emphasize the presence of AI appliances that have entered everyday life.
From TVs to robot vacuums, the technological competition between Korean and Chinese companies leading global home appliance trends is a major point of interest this year. Additionally, with the expanded participation of semiconductor companies like Nvidia and distribution companies, the exhibition scope is expected to expand beyond traditional appliances into various fields.
According to the industry on the 31st, IFA 2025, held from the 5th to the 9th in Berlin, Germany, is expected to have participation from about 1,800 companies and related organizations from 138 countries worldwide. This year's exhibition keywords are broadly summarized as △AI new home appliances △Technological competition between Korean and Chinese home appliance leaders △Expansion of exhibition scope into various areas such as semiconductors and distribution companies.
The central technological keyword is undoubtedly AI. IFA CEO Jens Heithecker stated at a press conference held in Korea last June that "AI, quantum computing, and sustainability will be major trends," and pointed out AI as one of the core keywords of this year's IFA.
Accordingly, the two major domestic home appliance companies, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, will each organize their exhibition spaces under the themes 'AI Home, Making Future Daily Life a Reality' and 'Orchestra of AI Appliances.' They will unveil new products, including various AI appliances tailored to the European market, as well as TVs and robot vacuums. Both companies plan to place large booths in the main exhibition hall and broaden their contact points with clients and visitors.
Chinese companies will also participate on a large scale. Continuing from last year, Chinese companies participating in IFA at the largest scale ever will showcase their technological prowess in major home appliance fields. Hisense and TCL will present mini LED TV products based on AI technology. Market leaders in the robot vacuum sector, such as Roborock, Ecovacs, and Dreame, will also debut new products at IFA.
This year's IFA is expected to highlight not only traditional home appliance companies but also the activities of the semiconductor and distribution industries. Nvidia, a semiconductor company, will hold a consumer tech demo showcase to announce the latest technologies in gaming and AI and allow attendees to experience them firsthand. To facilitate networking in the distribution industry, the Retail Leaders Summit will be held for the first time at IFA this year. Companies like eBay, Alibaba, and Coupang will attend, with over 100 global distribution and consumer tech industry executives gathering.
A domestic home appliance industry official said, "The status of IFA changed after its 100th anniversary last year, and from this year, it seems to be focusing on establishing its unique color," adding, "On-site, business meetings and partnership discussions between companies will also be further expanded."
