[Financial News] Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, returned on the 31st after completing the schedule of the economic delegation for the Korea-US summit.
Arriving through Incheon International Airport around 1:30 AM that day, Chairman Lee briefly responded to reporters' questions about his impressions of the US business trip and the Trump administration's restrictions on semiconductor equipment exports to China, saying, "We have to work hard." As the US strengthens restrictions on semiconductor equipment exports to China, it is inevitable that the operations of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix's semiconductor factories in China will face difficulties.
Earlier, on the 24th, Chairman Lee embarked on a US business trip with key group executives, including Jung Hyun-ho, head of Samsung Electronics' Business Support Task Force, Vice Chairman Choi Sung-an of Samsung Heavy Industries, and President Oh Se-chul of Samsung C&T's Construction Division, to participate as part of the economic delegation for the Korea-US summit. Chairman Lee, while active as part of the economic delegation, formalized participation in Samsung Heavy Industries' US shipbuilding revival project 'MASGA' and focused on strengthening cooperation with the US in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors.

In particular, on the 25th (local time) in Washington DC, at the Korea-US Business Round Table, held as a related event to the Korea-US summit, Chairman Lee's warm embrace with Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, became a hot topic. This scene was interpreted as a signal that the negotiations for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) supply between Samsung Electronics and Nvidia are proceeding smoothly. Samsung Electronics is pushing to supply HBM3E (5th generation) and HBM4 (6th generation) to Nvidia, the largest purchaser of HBM.
Chairman Lee also stated, "I will work hard," in response to reporters' questions about next year's key business opportunities. Before visiting the US as part of the economic delegation, Chairman Lee had already been on a US business trip for about 17 days from the end of last month to the 15th of this month, during which he mentioned, "I have prepared for next year's business."
After the summit in Washington DC, Chairman Lee reportedly stayed in the eastern US, including New Jersey, for five days, checking on Samsung Electronics' US business and continuing business meetings. The eastern US is densely packed with key affiliate corporations and R&D centers, including the global AI research center (New York), Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung Biologics, and Samsung Display.
