KOSPI Narrows Gains Due to Foreign Selling... Fails to Reclaim 3200 Mark [fn Closing Market]

[Financial News] KOSPI narrowed its gains due to foreign selling and closed trading at the 3190 mark.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 28th, KOSPI closed at 3196.32, up 9.16p (0.29%) from the previous day.
On this day, the index started trading at 3175.33, down 11.83p (-0.37%) from the previous trading day. Subsequently, as institutional buying expanded, it rose to 3211.34 (0.76%) at one point during the day, but the upward trend slowed due to foreign selling in the afternoon.
In the stock market, institutions net bought 3223 billion won, while institutions and foreigners net sold 3891 billion won and 222 billion won, respectively.
By sector, securities (3.98%), finance (2.63%), and insurance (2.60%) were strong, while entertainment/culture (-1.30%), metals (-0.71%), and telecommunications (-0.55%) were weak.
Among the top market cap stocks, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (10.55%), Samsung Life Insurance (3.89%), and Samsung C&T (3.55%) showed an upward trend, while HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-3.45%), LG Energy Solution (-2.41%), and Samsung Electronics (-1.13%) showed a downward trend.
On this day, KOSDAQ closed at 798.43, down 3.29p (-0.41%) from the previous day. Individuals net bought 1097 billion won, while foreigners and institutions net sold 739 billion won and 213 billion won, respectively.
Ji-Won Kim, a researcher at KB Securities, said, "With concerns over an AI bubble alleviated through Nvidia's earnings and the Financial Monetary Committee's decision to freeze the base rate, it approached the 3200 mark," adding, "After confirming Nvidia's earnings results, which were the biggest event of the week and heightened caution, the overall market investment sentiment improved, and foreigners switched to net buying after three trading days, but ended with a slight net sale."
