[Financial News] Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, stated on the 27th (local time) that "China's artificial intelligence (AI) market will grow by 50% next year," hinting at the possibility of launching Nvidia's high-performance AI semiconductor, Blackwell, in China.
According to CNBC, CEO Jensen Huang said this during a conference call following Nvidia's second-quarter earnings announcement. He added that "there will be a $50 billion (approximately 70 trillion won) opportunity in the Chinese market for Nvidia this year," but noted that this is not a sales forecast.
CEO Huang stated, "The opportunity to launch Blackwell in the Chinese market is indeed possible," emphasizing the importance of supporting U.S. tech companies to lead and win the AI competition and contributing to making U.S. technology standards the global standard.
In the second quarter of this year, Nvidia's Blackwell sales increased by 17% compared to the previous quarter.
CEO Huang mentioned, "Blackwell is the AI platform the world has been waiting for, achieving tremendous advancements unlike before," adding that "the production of Blackwell Ultra is increasing at the highest speed, and the demand is enormous." He continued, "The AI competition has begun, and Blackwell is at its center."
Previously, CEO Huang visited the White House twice in July and August to obtain export approval for Nvidia's H20 semiconductor to China. The White House announced in August that a deal was made with President Donald Trump and CEO Huang to provide 15% of H20 sales in China to the U.S. government in exchange for export approval.
President Trump expressed his willingness to make a deal regarding Nvidia's Blackwell after the meeting.
CEO Huang argued that it is better for Chinese AI developers to use Nvidia semiconductors rather than being forced to use Chinese-made semiconductors due to export restrictions. If Nvidia launches Blackwell in China, it could encourage Chinese AI developers to choose it and promote mass sales.
However, CNBC predicted that Nvidia would need to create a lower-spec version to comply with U.S. export regulations if it wants to export Blackwell to China.
President Trump stated in August, "Blackwell is an incredibly advanced 'missile' and will not be traded," but added that "a somewhat enhanced version of Blackwell in a negative way could be traded."
CEO Huang expressed expectations, noting that China is the second-largest AI market in the world. He stated, "If we can respond with competitive products, the Chinese market will be a $50 billion opportunity this year and is expected to grow by 50% annually."
