[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung returned home through Seoul Airport on the morning of the 28th after completing a 6-day visit to the United States and Japan.
During the visit, President Lee confirmed the South Korea-US alliance through his first summit meeting with President Donald Trump and established a foundation of trust.
Prior to his visit to the US, President Lee held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru in Japan on the 23rd. He developed Korea-Japan relations to create conditions for trilateral cooperation between Korea, the US, and Japan, establishing a virtuous cycle that strengthens the Korea-US alliance in the process.
It is expected that President Lee will review the achievements of the visit and domestic and international issues accumulated so far with his staff after returning home. He is likely to focus on follow-up measures to the Korea-US summit. Since major agreements were reached in the fields of trade and security, detailed coordination will be necessary in the future.
Domestic issues are also pending. The regular National Assembly session starting on the 1st of next month requires driving force for budget and various reform legislative tasks.
There is also a point of consideration on how to form a cooperative structure with the newly elected leader of the People Power Party, Jang Dong-hyuk, who is from the anti-impeachment faction.
