Late summer heat, sleep disturbance and decreased immunity
Autonomic nervous system abnormalities, various organ problems
Early diagnosis needed for fatigue, headache, indigestion
[Financial News] According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, daytime temperatures are expected to exceed 30℃ until the end of August, with minimum temperatures also recording around 25℃. Autonomic nervous system abnormalities, various organ problems
Early diagnosis needed for fatigue, headache, indigestion
The heatwave has subsided somewhat, but due to tropical nights, it is difficult to get a good night's sleep, which can disrupt the body's balance. The optimal temperature for sleep is 18~20℃, but when night temperatures exceed 25℃, the body's temperature control center becomes overly active, hindering deep sleep.
Not getting proper sleep can lead to accumulated fatigue, reduced concentration, weakened immunity, and a vicious cycle of negatively affecting the autonomic nervous system.
Go Young-ho, director of KH Korea Health Management Association Busan Western Branch, advised, "Late summer is a time when fatigue easily accumulates due to the temperature difference between day and night, so if unusual fatigue persists, it is important to take sufficient rest and check your health status through professional examinations if necessary."
Excessive use of air conditioning during the summer can increase the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors, reducing autonomic nervous system function and weakening immunity.
Additionally, lack of sleep due to tropical nights, skipping meals due to heat, and habits of consuming cold foods can weaken stomach function and cause nutritional imbalances, leading to decreased immunity. Increased sweat discharge also leads to greater consumption of electrolytes in the body, making it easy to experience chronic fatigue and lethargy.
A tired body becomes more vulnerable to late heat, reducing immune cell activity and making it more susceptible to various diseases. Problems with the autonomic nervous system can cause dizziness, orthostatic syncope, and blood pressure fluctuations in the cardiovascular system, while digestive disorders, abdominal bloating, constipation, and diarrhea can occur repeatedly in the gastrointestinal tract.
Additionally, urinary symptoms such as urination disorders, incontinence, and erectile dysfunction may occur, along with various symptoms such as reduced sweat secretion, dry mouth, and dry eyes.
If autonomic nervous abnormalities are suspected, it is necessary to find and treat the underlying disease while also providing symptom-relieving treatment. Regular exercise to strengthen lower body muscles can help improve blood circulation and activate immune cells, but sudden and excessive exercise can worsen symptoms, so caution is needed.
Getting a good night's sleep is also a key factor in strengthening immunity. Taking a lukewarm shower before bed, refraining from using smartphones, and creating a cool and dark bedroom environment can help with sleep. A balanced diet is also essential, and it is recommended to consume seasonal vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins.
In particular, vitamin C and zinc are effective in boosting immunity. If unexplained fatigue, headaches, or indigestion persist, do not dismiss it as simple fatigue, but immediately visit a medical institution for an accurate diagnosis, including an autonomic nervous system examination.
Director Go emphasized, "There are many cases where small symptoms are left untreated and lead to major diseases," and "If there is repeated fatigue, headaches, or indigestion, it is important to identify the cause through professional examinations."
