[Financial News] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will approve the industrial complex plan for the Osong Third Life Science National Industrial Complex on the 28th.
According to the Ministry of Land on the 27th, the Osong Third Life Science National Industrial Complex aims to establish a core base leading K-Bio on a 4.12 million ㎡ site, targeting the creation of a 'Korean Kendall Square'. It plans to develop into a bio hub centered around the Osong Biomedical Campus, integrating residential and cultural functions.
Osong is already an area where existing bio industrial complexes such as the Osong Life Science Complex and Osong Biopolis are established. It is densely populated with six major national health institutions including the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, and National Institute of Health, as well as bio companies, new drug development support centers, and non-clinical support centers.
With the addition of the Osong Third Life Science National Industrial Complex, Osong is expected to become a central base of the domestic bio industry and a core axis of K-Bio with global competitiveness. In particular, through the linkage with the biomedical campus and national medical infrastructure, it is expected that the training of R&D personnel and the attraction of innovative growth companies will be actively carried out. The establishment of the industrial complex is analyzed to have a production induction effect of 1.7968 trillion won and an employment induction effect of 11,562 people.
The Ministry of Land plans to actively promote follow-up procedures such as land compensation from this year, targeting completion by 2030.
Ji-yeon Kim, Director of National Policy, said, "The designation of the Osong Third Life Science National Industrial Complex will be an important turning point in creating an innovative ecosystem for the bio industry and promoting systematic development," adding, "We will actively support the development of the industrial complex as a core base of the K-Bio industry and create an industrial complex where research activities and workers' lives are in harmony."
