[Financial News] The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 27th that 47 advanced general hospitals nationwide have completed their connection with the 'Health Information Highway' platform, allowing anyone to comprehensively check their medical information through the 'My Health Record' app.
The Health Information Highway is a national medical information relay platform that supports patients to directly view and utilize diagnosis, medication, health check-up, and vaccination information held by public and medical institutions.
As of last August, in addition to the 47 advanced general hospitals, 53 general hospitals and 1164 clinics and hospitals participated, completing connections with a total of 1264 medical institutions.
The 'My Health Record' app provides functions such as viewing medical history and test results, blood pressure and blood sugar levels, medication prescription details, as well as national health check-up results and children's vaccination schedule management. It also includes a 24-hour hospital and pharmacy search service, which is highly useful even in emergency situations.
Especially with this connection, patients can directly check imaging tests, pathology tests, surgery records, allergy and side effect histories from major advanced general hospitals such as Seoul National University Hospital, Severance Hospital, and Samsung Seoul Hospital through the app. This is expected to enhance the quality of patient-centered medical services and inter-hospital treatment connections.
Shin Kkot Si Gye, Director of Advanced Medical Support at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, “With the participation of all advanced general hospitals nationwide, an environment has been established where patients can easily check medical information and choose medical services anytime, anywhere,” adding, “We will further expand to all general hospitals to strengthen the foundation for utilizing medical data.”
Experts predict that the digital transformation of medical information will contribute not only to patient convenience but also to personalized medicine and public health policy. In particular, the fact that individuals can directly manage their health data through the app is analyzed as a turning point in the medical paradigm.
