[Financial News] Taihan Electric Wire announced on the 26th that it has received a notification of award for the ultra-high voltage power grid construction project from Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation. The project aims to expand the transmission system to stably supply electricity produced at a large-scale desalination complex power plant to all regions of Qatar, with the bid amount being approximately 180 billion won. Taihan Electric Wire will carry out the entire process from design, production, laying, connection, and testing of the ultra-high voltage power grid of 400 kilovolts (kV) and 220kV, which are the highest voltages in the region, in a 'full turnkey' manner.
Earlier on the 21st, it won a project to construct an ultra-high voltage power grid worth about 40 billion won. This project is to build a 220kV ultra-high voltage power grid in response to the increasing power demand in Qatar.
According to Taihan Electric Wire, Qatar is a market that requires the highest level of technology among Middle Eastern countries. In particular, in the case of ultra-high voltage power grid full turnkey projects, thorough evaluations are conducted in all areas, including quality, technology, engineering, and project management. This order is evaluated as a result of the comprehensive recognition of Taihan Electric Wire's ultra-high voltage cable technology and turnkey project execution capabilities in the region.
Taihan Electric Wire has been participating in multiple ultra-high voltage power grid expansion projects conducted by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation since 2008.
A representative of Taihan Electric Wire said, "As the demand for power infrastructure in the Middle East region, including Qatar, continues to expand, we will continue to strengthen our market penetration in the Middle East by expanding our business portfolio with ultra-high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable systems and submarine cables."
