[Financial News] SK Hynix announced on the 26th that it participated in the '2nd Korea Social Value Festa' held at Coex, Seoul, from the 25th to the 26th, sharing best practices of 'AI for Impact' and hosting a forum to explore ways to create social value through AI technology. The Social Value Festa, hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is a place where various entities such as businesses, academia, and the general public gather to share ideas and activities for solving social problems. This year, under the theme 'Designing a Sustainable Future', various programs were held addressing major social issues such as the climate crisis, digital transformation, and regional inequality.
SK Hynix emphasized that it will present a new model of 'technology-based social value creation' by holding an AI for Impact forum as a separate session of the event, utilizing AI as a core tool to bring about positive change.
The forum held on the 25th was divided into two parts: case presentations and discussions. About 150 people, including social enterprises, citizen scientists, and the general public, attended to discuss the specific possibilities of AI technology contributing to solving social problems.
In the first part, excellent cases of AI utilization were introduced. Jung Hong-rae, CEO of social enterprise Beconnect Lab, presented a case of automating regional development strategy reports with AI to reduce data analysis and report writing time and propose development strategies tailored to the community. Min-sun Park, CEO of Open Door, introduced the 'Safety Map' service, which combines location-based data and AI analysis to build a safety net for single-person households.
Citizen scientists showcased citizen-led projects that solve problems by integrating AI technology in the environmental field, such as monitoring ecological changes by identifying various species like climate indicator species, invasive species, and native species (endemic species), and diagnosing the residual value of electric vehicle batteries with AI analysis services. Kim Jeong-bin, CEO of Superbin, and Seok-won Yoon, CEO of AI Works, explained the process of overcoming difficulties faced by social enterprises in adopting AI technology and creating social value.
Panelists predicted that the advancement of AI technology will contribute to the development of innovative and reliable solution models and bring about positive changes in solving social problems, emphasizing the need to build an inclusive technology ecosystem through AI. Bang-sil Lee, Vice President of SK Hynix, said, "We hope that through today's forum, the awareness that social value creation through AI technology is possible in a wide range of areas from social enterprises to the general public will spread," and added, "We will continue to expand the AI for Impact education program."
