Consideration of 'Carrying Firearms' and 'Dispatching Investigators' During Martial Law
[Financial News] The Special Counsel Team on Rebellion and Foreign Affairs (Cho Eun-seok Special Counsel) is conducting a search and seizure operation on former Coast Guard Planning and Coordination Officer An Seong-sik and the Coast Guard, who are suspected of participating in the 12·3 Martial Law.
The Special Counsel Team announced through a press release on the 26th that "a search and seizure operation is underway from 9 a.m. on the Coast Guard, etc." The search and seizure locations include the Planning and Coordination Office within the Coast Guard, and three places including An's official residence and home.
The Special Counsel Team has booked An on charges of participating in rebellion.
Former high-ranking Coast Guard official An is suspected of advocating for carrying firearms for the protection of police stations and dispatching investigative personnel during meetings at the time of martial law, and of ordering the clearing of detention centers.
He is an alumnus of Chungam High School, like former President Yoon Seok-yeol and former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyeon, and was dispatched to the Presidential Transition Committee in 2022.
The Coast Guard reported on the 14th that it was difficult for An to perform his normal duties and issued a standby order.
