[Financial News] LG Electronics announced on the 26th that it will officially launch the AI home platform 'LG ThinQ AI' in the European market from next month, which upgrades or analyzes AI appliances and even prevents breakdowns.
In Europe, LG ThinQ has been providing convenience features such as remote appliance control and Internet of Things (IoT) appliance connections, but recently, as the number of AI appliance products and customers using them has rapidly increased, various functions and services have been systematically organized and significantly expanded to upgrade to ThinQ AI.
LG Electronics plans to sequentially expand the various functions and services of the ThinQ AI platform, which is currently provided in Korea and the United States, starting with Europe and then to Asia and Latin America.
ThinQ AI is composed of two core services: 'ThinQ UP', which continuously upgrades new AI functions to existing appliances, and 'ThinQ Care', which easily manages product conditions such as malfunctions and abnormal signs. This provides customers with a continuously improving usage experience even after purchasing appliances.
'ThinQ UP (UP Appliances)' is a service that helps customers continuously upgrade necessary functions even after purchasing appliances. For example, customers with pets can add a pet care function that removes allergy-causing substances from washing machines and dryers through software (SW) upgrades. Additionally, customers who frequently wear thin materials in the summer can finely adjust the drying level from the existing 5 levels to 13 levels to match the fabric through upgrades.
Since its launch in 2022, ThinQ UP has expanded its supported products and functions in Korea and North America, surpassing 20 million cumulative downloads as of the first half of this year. The number of connected home appliances in the ThinQ application (app) has increased by more than 40% compared to the previous year, presenting a new paradigm of continuously upgrading home appliances like smartphones.
The 'ThinQ Care' service monitors energy usage and AI analyzes malfunctions or abnormal signs in real-time to provide advance notice to customers.
LG Electronics considers that the environment in which appliances are used and the preferred functions vary by country, and will introduce customized functions reflecting customer feedback in Europe. In Spain, where the weather is hot, the Fresh Keeper function, which remotely adds extra rinsing to prevent clothes left in the washing machine after washing from wrinkling or smelling, or periodically rotates the drum to minimize wrinkles, is useful.
In Germany and France, where there is high interest in environmental issues, the 'AI Saving Mode', which provides AI-based energy-saving modes by analyzing the main usage time and outing time of refrigerator users, will be introduced.
Additionally, LG Electronics plans to allow visitors to directly experience continuously evolving appliances with ThinQ AI through customized appliances and experience zones for European customers at 'IFA 2025', Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, starting from September 5th.
Jaecheol Ryu, head of LG Electronics' HS Business Division, said, "We will continuously upgrade and manage to ensure customers can use the products without inconvenience even after purchase, providing an endlessly evolving AI appliance experience." soup@fnnews.com Subin Lim Reporter
