[Financial News]  An incident occurred in an apartment in Geoje, Gyeongnam, where a fire was set in the living room during a couple's fight. No major casualties occurred, but residents evacuated urgently in the middle of the night.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Department and Geoje Police Station on the 26th, a fire broke out on the 2nd floor of a 10-story apartment in Okpo-dong, Geoje City, at around 10:55 PM the previous day.
As a result, the couple A (female in her 40s) and B (in his 50s) who lived in the unit suffered 1st to 2nd degree burns and were taken to a nearby hospital.
Additionally, 53 residents evacuated urgently, and 14 of them inhaled smoke and received treatment at the hospital.
The fire was extinguished around 11:34 PM, burning 46㎡ of the apartment's interior and household goods, causing property damage estimated at 30 million won by the fire department.
According to the police investigation, it was revealed that wife A poured gasoline in the living room and set it on fire with a lighter after a fight with husband B. The police have booked A on charges of arson of an inhabited building causing injury and plan to investigate the exact motive for the crime.
