[Financial News]  A woman is contemplating ending her marriage amidst her husband's endless disregard and ridicule. Repeated derogatory remarks, not only in private settings but also in front of the in-laws, have become a source of conflict.
On the 26th, according to YTN Radio 'Jo In-seop Lawyer's Counseling Center', a woman, Ms. A, who has been married for three years, expressed her distress, saying, "The husband, who was reliable during dating, now starts every conversation with disregard and lecturing."
Ms. A said, "When I watch history programs, he asks if I understand them, and when I ask about a word in a movie title, he looks at me with disdain, saying, 'Don't you even know that?'" She continued, "It's in English, so it's understandable not to know, but why is that something to be ignored for? He was the same in front of my parents."
In fact, the husband reportedly also rebuked the father-in-law, saying, "You say that because you don't know." The decisive moment was when Ms. A discovered messages on her husband's computer. She said, "The moment I confirmed the conversation saying 'the wife is ignorant, the in-laws are unreasonable,' my affection completely cooled."
The husband, who received a transfer to a provincial area, asked her to go with him, but Ms. A refused. The husband then brought up divorce first but soon changed his mind. Ms. A lamented, "The husband said divorce isn't possible during pregnancy and suggested postponing until after childbirth. In a situation where even living expenses are given like pocket money, I can't live like this anymore."
Regarding this, lawyer Jeon Bo-seong (Shinsegae Law Firm) advised, "If the wife's and family's insulting remarks are repeated, it is sufficient grounds for divorce," and "It is important to record conversations to secure evidence." He also explained, "Even a full-time housewife is recognized for her contribution to property through housekeeping and childcare, so property division is possible," and "Even during pregnancy, it is not disadvantageous to proceed with divorce procedures."
