[Financial News] Kim Geon-hee appeared for questioning by the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor's Team (Min Jung-gi Special Prosecutor) regarding the summons investigation.
Mrs. Kim arrived at the special prosecutor's office located in the KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu, Seoul, at around 9:36 AM on the 25th, escorted by a Ministry of Justice transport vehicle. The special prosecutor's investigation begins at 10 AM.
Mrs. Kim has been summoned for questioning on the 14th, 18th, and 21st after being detained on the 12th. However, Mrs. Kim continues to exercise her right to remain silent regarding allegations of 'Deutsche Motors stock manipulation' and 'Myung Tae-gyun's nomination interference'.
The special prosecutor's team, which has not received meaningful answers, is expected to focus on solidifying charges considering that Mrs. Kim's detention period is about a week remaining.
Geonjin Beopsa Jeon Seong-bae will also be questioned at the same time as Mrs. Kim. Mr. Jeon, who was detained on the 21st, will undergo his first summons investigation.
Mr. Jeon is accused of delivering gifts such as a diamond necklace and a Chanel bag from the Unification Church to Mrs. Kim for her use and receiving requests for church-related matters, as well as allegedly making personnel requests to influential political figures. Additionally, there are allegations that he facilitated the mass admission of Unification Church members into the People Power Party to support 'Pro-Yoon' Kwon Seong-dong's election ahead of the 2023 party convention and requested nominations for specific individuals during the 2022 local elections.
The requests delivered by Yoon Young-ho, former head of the Unification Church World Headquarters, to Mr. Jeon included △support for the Unification Church's Mekong River development project in Cambodia △acquisition of YTN by the Unification Church △hosting the UN (United Nations) 5th Secretariat in Korea △invitation to the presidential inauguration.
So far, Mr. Jeon claims to have "lost" the Chanel bag delivered by Mr. Yoon. Mr. Jeon instructed Yoo Kyung-ok, a former administrator and one of Mrs. Kim's 'Three Musketeers', to exchange the Chanel bag for one pair of shoes and three bags, during which he claims it was lost.
