[Financial News] LS Electric announced on the 25th that it will participate in the '2025 Climate Industry International Expo' to be held at BEXCO, Busan from the 27th to the 29th with LS Cable. This expo, co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the World Bank (WB), is the largest climate-related exhibition in Korea. This year's theme is 'Energy for Artificial Intelligence (AI) & AI for Energy'.
The two companies will present next-generation smart transmission, substation, and distribution total solutions that can efficiently manage the rapidly increasing demand for electric energy in the AI era at this expo.
In a 270㎡ exhibition space, they plan to unveil △High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) turnkey solutions △HVDC conversion solutions △AI data center superconducting solutions.
They will highlight their core HVDC solutions and turnkey (all-in-one supply) business capabilities, while emphasizing their position as the optimal contractor for the West Coast HVDC Energy Highway project. LS Electric will showcase its unique domestic HVDC conversion solution technology and business execution capabilities.
In this regard, LS Electric has completed the development of a 500 megawatt (MW) class voltage-type HVDC conversion transformer for the first time among domestic companies. An LS Electric official said, "We have recently successfully completed development tests and customer acceptance tests and are on the verge of commercialization," adding, "It is the largest capacity among voltage-type HVDC conversion transformers developed in Korea and will be applied to the Incheon area HVDC conversion station."
LS Cable recently succeeded in commercializing the world's largest transmission capacity 525 kilovolt (kV) class high-temperature HVDC cable. This product is characterized by increasing the allowable temperature of the conductor from the existing 70 degrees to 90 degrees, thereby improving transmission capacity by up to 50%. It is scheduled to be deployed in the first phase underground section of the 'East Coast-Metropolitan Area' HVDC in September. HVDC is considered a key technology of the carbon-neutral era as it has less transmission loss than existing alternating current (HVAC) and can transmit up to three times more power over long distances.
The two companies will also introduce 'Hypergrid NX', a superconducting power system for AI data centers. This system is a data center (IDC) power supply system that combines LS Electric's superconducting current limiter and LS Cable's superconducting cable. An LS Electric official said, "We will drastically change the global power market landscape, which has been led by some major companies, by leveraging our overwhelming production, technology, and business capabilities.”
