[Financial News] Lotte Mart announced on the 21st that it has redecorated its Bali store in Indonesia as a hybrid store combining the strengths of wholesale and retail.
This store has reduced the wholesale space, which previously occupied the entire 2000 pyeong store, to 500 pyeong, and restructured the remaining space into a retail area centered on K-food and fresh products. To target both local tourists and residents, it has strengthened its F&B content by placing 'Yorihada Kitchen', its own pizza brand 'Cheese & Dough', and European-style bakery 'Kopea Cafe & Bakery'.
In Indonesia, due to logistics infrastructure constraints, a wholesale structure centered on small retailers is common in areas outside major cities. Lotte Mart first entered the market in 2008 as the first domestic distributor and currently operates 36 wholesale and 12 retail stores. The Bali store was selected as the first store for the hybrid model, considering its location where an average of 1.2 million tourists and about 120,000 local demand coexist monthly.
The wholesale space is composed of popular items, targeting HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant, Cafe) customers by introducing large-volume pork belly, sushi-grade fish, and large bakery products. In the 'Retailer Zone' for retailers, a 'Sachet (small package)' zone was set up to enhance professional customer-tailored services.
Kim Tae-hoon, head of Lotte Mart & Super Indonesia Corporation, said, "Bali is the optimal place to apply an innovative model combining wholesale and retail," and "We will provide differentiated experiences to local residents, tourists, and professional customers alike."
