[Financial News] The investigator who stole a gold necklace worth 11 million won during an autopsy at the scene of death replied "I'm sorry" on the 24th when asked "Why did you hide the crime at the scene?"
The 30s-year-old Mr. A, who was arrested on charges of theft, said this to reporters as he entered Incheon District Court for a pre-arrest interrogation (warrant review) that afternoon.
He was seen covering his handcuffed hands with a shield and wearing a hat and mask to avoid exposing his face.
Mr. A did not respond to reporters' questions such as "Why did you steal the gold necklace?" and "Have you ever tampered with autopsy items in the past?"
The warrant review is being conducted from 2 p.m. by Kim Han-ul, the duty judge at Incheon District Court, and the decision on whether to arrest will be made late in the afternoon.
Mr. A is accused of stealing a 20-don gold necklace worn by a 50s-year-old man, Mr. B, who was found dead in a villa in Namdong-gu, Incheon City, on the afternoon of the 20th.
It was revealed that Mr. A took the gold necklace from Mr. B's body and hid it in his sneaker while the police officers dispatched to the scene were investigating outside the house.
In the police investigation, he stated, "I got greedy for a moment while checking the body."
The police confirmed the disappearance of the gold necklace based on the scene photos and started an investigation, and urgently arrested Mr. A, who expressed his intention to surrender.
