[Financial News] Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who has been promoting the 'Future Seoul Morning Lecture' every other Friday of each month, will hold its 100th lecture. At 7:30 AM, Mayor Oh, along with city officials, directors, and heads of departments, will share core values and insights of Seoul's municipal administration.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 21st that the 'Future Seoul Morning Lecture', which started in May 2021, will reach its 100th session on the 22nd. It is a continuation of the 'Creative Seoul Morning Lecture' held from 2007 to 2011, attended by over 200 people including senior city officials, heads of investment institutions, and interested staff.
The 'Future Seoul Morning Lecture', featuring domestic and international experts as speakers, has completed 100 sessions by selecting topics that enhance the completeness of Seoul's municipal administration. These include social issues like economy, low birth rates, and loneliness, as well as strategies for strengthening urban competitiveness and tasks by generation and era, such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution and innovation technology development plans.
In past lectures, core policies of Seoul such as 'Birth Encouragement', 'Future Vision of Seoul Tourism', and 'Loneliness-Free Seoul' were presented as themes with insights and future visions.
Psychiatrist Oh Eun-young and economic YouTuber Shuka diagnosed the causes of low birth rates and population changes in our society, emphasizing the importance and urgency of preparing countermeasures. These suggestions also contributed to enhancing the effectiveness of Seoul's representative low birth rate policy, the 'Birth Encouragement Seoul Project'.
Lee Hoon, Dean of the Graduate School of International Tourism at Hanyang University, proposed a qualitative value transition of Seoul tourism and the hosting of experiential tourism marketing. This lecture influenced the establishment of the '3·3·7·7 Tourism Era' policy, a future vision for Seoul tourism.
Chef Choi Jung-yoon's lecture on 'Gastronomy and Urban Economy' laid the groundwork for the 'Seoul Gastronomy Week' and the hosting of 'Asia's 50 Best Restaurants'. In September last year, Yoo Seung-kyu, CEO of Anmuseoun Company, provided important insights and ideas for the 'Support Project for Isolated and Reclusive Youth', part of the 'Loneliness-Free Seoul' initiative.
The 'Future Seoul Morning Lecture', which covered topics on domestic and international affairs and technological changes, has presented a major framework for enhancing Seoul's urban competitiveness and administrative innovation based on new technologies. In particular, expert suggestions on AI and digital transformation have acted as catalysts for building a large language model (LLM) dedicated to administration, known as 'AI Administration'.
In a previous 2021 lecture, Bae Soon-min, Director of KT AI2XL, gave a lecture on 'The World AI Will Change', preemptively addressing changes in the era of artificial intelligence. Subsequently, Professor Lee Kyung-jun, CEO Gong Kyung-chul, CEO Kim Seo-jun, and CEO Cho Yong-min also took the stage to discuss organizational responses and innovation strategies following technological advancements in depth.
The city is actively linking the insights of 'Future Seoul Morning Lecture' speakers to policy to reflect them more precisely in municipal administration.
Hong Sung-tae, an emeritus professor at Hanyang University, was appointed as the 'Seoul Brand General Manager', contributing to the development of Seoul's brand slogan. Dr. Oh Eun-young was appointed as the 'Honorary Mayor of Seoul', and economic YouTuber Shuka was appointed as the 'Seoul City PR Ambassador', participating in municipal activities.
In October 2023, Dr. Jung Hee-won, who gave a lecture on 'Sustainable Aging in Seoul', was recently supported and appointed as the 'Seoul Health General Manager', contributing to the establishment of citizen health policies in Seoul.
Visits from overseas scholars continue. In May, world-renowned sociologist couple Professor Sam Richards and Professor Laurie Mulvey shed light on the sustainability of the Korean Wave from a foreign perspective, suggesting directions for establishing Seoul as a global cultural city.
The 100th lecture on the 22nd will be themed 'Reading the 2030 Generation in Seoul', sharing and contemplating the generational challenges faced by today's young generation in our society, such as limited growth opportunities and generational conflicts, and the policy directions for them. The lecture will be conducted by Lee Dong-soo, Honorary Mayor of Seoul's Future Generation Division.
Gwak Jong-bin, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Administration Bureau, said, "The Future Seoul Morning Lecture, which has continued for 100 sessions, is a platform for accumulating insights that can be integrated into the core philosophy and policies of municipal administration, beyond understanding the trends of the current era," adding, "Public officials will continuously learn and practice innovation themselves, serving as catalysts to enhance citizens' happiness and improve their daily lives and quality of life."
