According to the media, Lee Bong-gwan, chairman of Seohui Construction, expressed his resentment over the incident where he confessed to the special prosecutor's team that he gave expensive jewelry such as Van Cleef & Arpels necklaces to Mrs. Kim in March 2022 and requested a personnel favor for his eldest son-in-law, lawyer Park Seong-geun, a former prosecutor.
According to lawyer Shin, who met with Mrs. Kim, she explained that she interacted with Chairman Lee as he took on the role of chairman of the Korea National Prayer Breakfast.
Chairman Lee took office as the chairman of the prayer meeting in November 2020. Lawyer Shin also said that Mrs. Kim asked what the strengths of President Lee Jae-myung were, to which he replied, "He knows how to nurture people."
Then Mrs. Kim reportedly asked lawyer Shin to convey the same explanation when he met former President Yoon, showing her desire for her husband's political comeback.
Lawyer Shin also shared the situation of Mrs. Kim, which he confirmed during the meeting, on Facebook. He said, "As soon as Mrs. Kim sat in the meeting room chair, she suddenly said, 'Sir, should I die for my husband to find a way to live?'" adding, "She seemed to be deeply immersed in this thought these days."
Mrs. Kim also reportedly said, "How could Han Dong-hoon have done such a thing? If he hadn't betrayed like that, wouldn't endless glory have awaited him?"
Lawyer Shin said he comforted Mrs. Kim and advised her to try to forgive Han Dong-hoon, the former leader of the People Power Party. He also described Mrs. Kim as "so emaciated that only her bony frame remains."
Mrs. Kim was detained at the Seoul Southern Detention Center on the 12th for charges of violating the Political Funds Act, the Capital Markets Act, and the Aggravated Punishment Act for Specific Crimes.
She will appear before the special prosecutor's team for the third investigation after her arrest at 2 p.m. on the 21st. During the investigation on the 14th, she left a message to her legal team, "Will I be able to live with my husband again, will we be able to meet again?"
During a meeting with her lawyer on the 19th, she reportedly expressed her desire to "live with former President Yoon again."
