[Financial News] Kumho Construction announced on the 20th that it held the opening ceremony for the Nhan Trac Bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province in Vietnam on the 19th (local time). Following the opening, the bridge was fully opened from 7 a.m. on the same day.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 70 people, including officials from the central and local governments of Vietnam, and representatives from the Export-Import Bank of Korea's Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). The event proceeded with speeches from key figures followed by a ribbon-cutting, and major opening and groundbreaking ceremonies held across Vietnam were broadcast live nationwide through state television.
The Nhan Trac Bridge spans the Dong Nai River, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, and is a 2.6km long, 4-lane bridge. It is a large-scale infrastructure construction project ordered by the My Thuan Project Management Unit under the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, with funding support from EDCF.
The total construction cost is approximately 100 billion won, with Kumho Construction solely responsible for the construction, which began in September 2022. The opening ceremony was held as the connecting road construction of the Nhan Trac Bridge was completed this month.
The opening of the Nhan Trac Bridge is expected to significantly improve logistics efficiency as it directly connects major industrial zones and agricultural and fisheries distribution centers in the Mekong Delta region. It is anticipated to enhance the competitiveness of the manufacturing and export-import industries centered around Ho Chi Minh City and positively impact the development of nearby new towns and the attraction of industrial complex investments.
Jo Wan-seok, president of Kumho Construction, said, "The Nhan Trac Bridge is a key infrastructure contributing to the economic and living improvement of the southern region of Vietnam," and added, "Based on Kumho Construction's accumulated technology and construction experience, we will continue to carry out excellent infrastructure projects overseas."
