SK Ecoplant CI. SK Ecoplant
[Financial News]  SK Ecoplant is selling shares in three environmental subsidiaries and will focus on restructuring its business around advanced industries such as semiconductors.
SK Ecoplant announced on the 20th that it has signed a stock purchase agreement to sell 100% of the shares in its environmental subsidiaries Renewus, Renewone, and Jiryu Energy Chungbuk to the global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR).
The sale is valued at approximately 1.78 trillion won. For Renewus and Jiryu Energy Chungbuk, the remaining shares will be acquired first and then sold collectively.
This sale is being pursued to strengthen the business portfolio centered on advanced industries such as semiconductors and AI data centers and to improve the financial structure.
Last year, SK Ecoplant incorporated industrial gas company SK Airplus and semiconductor module company Essencore as subsidiaries, and is also working on incorporating semiconductor process-related material manufacturing companies such as SK Trichem, SK Resonac, and SK Materials JNC as subsidiaries.
The total sales of the subsidiaries to be incorporated last year was approximately 350 billion won, and including SK Airplus and Essencore, which have already been incorporated, it amounts to 1.68 trillion won.
An SK Ecoplant representative stated, "Through this rebalancing, we aim to enhance financial soundness and further strengthen our business portfolio centered on advanced industries such as semiconductors and AI."
