[Financial News] Advanced materials specialist IL subsidiary ILSelion has decided to relocate its headquarters to the IL Cheonan Smart Factory.
IL announced on the 20th that through this relocation of ILSelion headquarters, it will establish a 'one-stop value chain' for lamp production, from light-emitting diodes (LED) to silicon lenses. The relocation of the headquarters is expected to be completed by the Chuseok holiday in October. Afterward, the full-scale integrated production system will be operational.
This relocation is expected to be a strategic turning point for the entire IL Group, beyond simple production base integration, to enhance work efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen global supply responsiveness. ILSelion has been producing LED circuit boards (PCBs) at its plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. Through this relocation to the IL Cheonan Smart Factory, it will complete an integrated production system that connects the 'SMT' process and the silicon lens process without logistics movement.
In particular, IL expects to enhance competitiveness in all directions, such as quality control, delivery time reduction, and logistics cost savings, through process integration that directly connects the LED·SMT process to silicon lens-based lamp assembly. In fact, it is expected to achieve results such as reducing logistics costs by about 20% by shortening the component movement line, shortening delivery time by about 30% by eliminating intermediate transportation procedures, and improving defect rates through real-time quality feedback between processes.
In May, IL preemptively expanded the Cheonan Plant 2 to respond to the increasing demand for silicon lens-based automotive lamp technology, which was commercialized for the first time in Korea. Plant 2 is being equipped with AI robot automation facilities as a core production base based on a smart factory. It is expected to minimize manpower input and increase production speed by automating the entire production process in an inline form. Through this relocation, the production system will be further stabilized, and a foundation will be laid to respond more flexibly to large-scale orders from global automakers.
An IL representative stated, "The relocation of ILSelion to the IL Cheonan Smart Factory is not just a physical move, but a key stage in the value chain innovation that the IL Group is pushing forward with strong determination," adding, "Through the one-stop production system from LED to silicon lenses, we will simultaneously secure quality, delivery, and cost competitiveness, and further strengthen our position in the global market."
Meanwhile, IL has recently incorporated Itronics as a 100% subsidiary and is discussing financial structure improvement plans along with organizational efficiency. The IL Group is promoting company-wide efforts to maximize sales synergy, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs based on workforce and resource integration.
