[Financial News] The AI-based HR Software as a Service (SaaS) company Flex announced on the 20th that it has established the first 'AI Reliability and Safety Guidelines' in the domestic HR SaaS industry. This is a proactive measure considering the specificity of the HR domain, which directly affects individuals' livelihoods and careers, such as recruitment, promotion, and dismissal.
The core of the guidelines is the six ethical principles 'P.A.T.H. For Sustainability' presented by Flex. This stands for Privacy, Accountability, Transparency, Human Dignity, Fairness, and Safety, derived from their English initials. It embodies the philosophy of respecting the value of labor and the uniqueness of humans.
Flex divides the entire lifecycle of AI systems into five stages: planning and design, development, evaluation and verification, introduction and operation, and outsourcing and third-party utilization, and has codified risk factors and countermeasures for each stage. In particular, during the development stage, it mandates data bias monitoring, multi-layered mitigation strategies, ensuring explainability, handling sensitive information, and preventing AI misalignment. In the evaluation and verification stage, it operates a Red Team and conducts fairness audits to prevent discrimination against specific groups.
Recruitment, promotion, and dismissal are classified as 'high-risk services', requiring mandatory human final review when applying AI. A special management system is established, approved by the CEO or an equivalent responsible person, to strengthen human control and accountability over AI decisions.
Flex's guidelines comply with domestic and international laws and regulatory trends, such as the 'Basic Law on Artificial Intelligence', 'Personal Information Protection Act', and the European Union (EU) 'AI Act', and reflect global companies' research on AI misalignment response.
Jang Hae-nam, CEO of Flex, said, "Since HR deals with people's livelihoods and future, AI utilization must consider its impact on humans beyond technological possibilities," adding, "This guideline is not a formal procedure for regulatory compliance, but Flex's philosophy and promise to lead 'human-centered AI SaaS' and to our customers."
Since its inception, Flex has defined HR not as 'Human Resources' but as 'Human Relations', promoting its service identity as a 'Human Relations Platform'.
