On this day, KOSPI closed at 3151.56, down 25.72p (0.81%) from the previous trading day. KOSPI started at 3185.04, up 7.76p (0.24%) from the previous trading day, but reversed to a decline.
There is an analysis that foreign selling pressure continued due to caution over domestic tax reform. On this day, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok said at his first press conference after taking office, "There is a sensitive reaction in the market regarding tax reform, etc.," and "We are watching to see if there will be a situation where we need to think further in an appropriate manner at an appropriate time."
On this day, institutions and individuals net bought stocks worth 252.7 billion won and 88.8 billion won, respectively, but foreign investors net sold stocks worth 453.5 billion won.
In particular, stocks related to nuclear power and defense, which were considered leading sectors, fell sharply. By sector, KOSPI entertainment and culture rose the most at 1.07%.
KOSDAQ index closed at 787.96, down 10.09p (1.26%) from the previous session. The index started at 799.54, up 1.49p (0.19%) from the previous session, but soon turned to a decline.
