[Financial News] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 19th that it will host the '2025 International Broadcasting Video Market (BCWW)' at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from the 16th to the 19th of next month, in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of BCWW, which supports the export of K-content and is the largest broadcasting and online video service (OTT) content market in Asia where domestic and international video industry officials exchange information. Last year, over 10,000 video industry officials from more than 30 countries participated, resulting in export contracts worth approximately 86.24 million dollars (about 119.7 billion won).
This year, to revitalize the OTT video industry leading to the 300 trillion won 'K-Culture' era, it will support content and platform company exhibition halls, showcases, and business consultations (biz-matching) between producers, buyers, and investors under the theme 'Window to the Future'.
Additionally, various lectures highlighting the latest video industry technologies and trends, as well as promotional halls for K-OTT and smart television-based real-time playback services (FAST), will be prepared for the general public to participate in.
In particular, this year, to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations in 2026 and to strengthen international exchanges, France has been invited as the guest country. Many key company officials in OTT, film, and animation, including the French National Center for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC), which comprehensively supports the French video industry, will visit Korea.
A special program will be operated, including a joint pavilion for France, major company content showcases, and lectures, to expand export and co-production collaboration opportunities between the video industry officials of both countries, promoting mutual industrial development.
Im Seong-hwan, Director of the Media Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, “I hope that the 'International Broadcasting Video Market', celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will become a venue for supporting K-content exports in various ways and for video industry officials to gather and discuss sustainable industrial growth.” He added, “The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will do its best to prepare for the successful hosting of the event during the remaining period.”
