Implementation of 'Special Legalization Measures for Compatriots' on the 80th Anniversary of Liberation
[Financial News] Measures are being implemented to grant legal residency status to compatriots who have overstayed their period of stay in the country.
The Ministry of Justice announced on the 19th that it will implement special legalization measures for compatriots on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Liberation.
The targets are foreign nationals of Korean descent whose period of stay expired before August 18, and their families, with applications accepted from September 1 to November 28. The review will focus on public health (infectious diseases, drugs), national finance (health insurance premiums, national tax arrears), and law-abiding awareness (criminal records).
Compatriots and their families who receive residency permits through this Ministry of Justice measure must complete mandatory social integration education prescribed by the Ministry of Justice if they stay in the country for more than 90 days.
Details regarding this measure will be announced on the 27th on the Ministry of Justice Immigration and Foreign Policy Headquarters or the HiKorea website.
Jeong Seong-ho, Minister of Justice, said, "This special measure will provide compatriots of the same ethnicity with a new opportunity to start and live a stable life in their homeland, creating a leap forward for integration and development with the people," adding, "We will continue to pursue immigration policies that contribute to social integration and national development in various ways."
